Camera trapping

Collecting baseline data on mammal diversity in Bannerghatta

Leader: Avinash Krishnan

Camera trapping of mammals

Bannerghatta National Park, India

Little is known about the status of large mammals in and around BNP, how effectively BNP protects them, or the pressures they come under (hunting, land conversion, persecution etc.) from the surrounding human population. Identification of key sites and habitats used by each of the target species is required, and to also specify where threats to these species might arise from conflict with people. Camera traps are being used to record baseline information with regard to mammalian diversity in the protected area.
